Adults are humans or animals which have attained their maximum development. When used with human beings, the term "adult" can have meanings that are connected to social or legal notions. An adult who is legally mature, in contrast to "minors" (also known as non-adults) can be defined as someone older than the average age and therefore considered independent, responsible and self-sufficient. Legal adults can also be called a major. Age 18 is the legal adult age, but this definition can differ by country, legal rights or the development of a person's psychological.

The lifespan of a human being Adulthood refers to the age in which the person is at the point of complete intellectual and physical maturation. Adulthood, as it is typically understood, is at the age of around 20 or 21. The middle age is around 40 years and is followed by the elderly age of 60. The three major stages of adulthood are the early years (from the mid 30s until late 60s), middle adulthood from the mid-30s through late-60s, and finally adulthood (mid-60s until the time of death). The early adulthood stage is the one of physical maturity that is at the time we attain the age of 20 to 40 years older. Our height and weight can, however, slightly increase. In early adulthood our physical abilities reach their highest levels. They include strength of muscles and reaction time.
